The 10th annual AARSE conference will be held in October in Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference draws participants from science, education, business and policy sectors to promote the use of remote sensing technologies in furthering sustainable developments throughout Africa.
This year, the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE) will hold its 10th international conference on “Space Technologies for Societal Benefits in Africa” in Johannesburg, South Africa, from Oct. 27-31. The AARSE was formed in 1992 as an umbrella organization for all remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) activities in Africa, and one of its primary objectives is to increase awareness about the benefits of geo-informational technology.
The biennial conference is the largest gathering of remote sensing and GIS practitioners and users in Africa and bills itself as the continent’s premier forum for discussing space science, remote-sensing applications and technology strategies. The conference seeks to bring together scientists, practitioners, educators, developers, vendors and decision-makers to discuss developments, applications, capacity-building and the promotion of geo-information technologies in the service of the sustainable development of Africa. Presentation topics include: Environmental Hazards and Risk Reduction, African Space Policy and Strategy and EO Infrastructure and Data Management.
Additionally, the conference provides a platform for African remote sensing and space science scientists to share their findings and receive critical responses to their work. The AARSE has put out a call for abstracts and papers for this conference. If accepted, the authors will have the opportunity to present their papers and they will be published in the conference proceedings. Companies interested in exhibiting at the conference should contact AARSE by email.
