GEOSS Future Products: Recommendations from a Workshop
A discussion of outcomes from the 2013 ÛÏGEOSS Future Products WorkshopÛ held at the NOAA Science Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The focus was on connecting Sensor Webs to Model Webs to generate a wide portfolio of on-demand and near real-time products accessible through citizen-oriented applications for diverse types of GEOSS users.
GEOWOW: GEOSS Interoperability for Weather, Ocean and Water
The GEOWOW project aims to improve data discovery, access and usage and evolve GEOSS in terms of interoperability, standardization and functionality while specifically addressing three key application areas: weather, water and, ocean-ecosystems. The project includes 15 international partners and is coordinated by the European Space Agency.
A Look at AfriGEOSS
To promote data democracy and sharing to improve access, AfriGEOSS will encourage collaboration between academic institutions, emphasize the development of open-source software and open systems, and strengthen the understanding of individuals and institutions of technology limitations, proper dissemination methods and relevant software tools.
A GEOSS perspective on Air Quality and Health in Europe: the EGIDA Methodology
The air quality issue is a multinational concern and GEOSS seems an ideal approach for connecting existing observing systems and for sharing data globally. Experiences from previous involvements in GEOSS by the air quality communities are discussed in this article and approaches for improving their sustainable contributions are suggested.
Web Services for Forest Data, Analysis and Monitoring: Developments from EuroGEOSS
Improving web-based forest analysis and modeling tools is key to sharing accurate and up-to-date knowledge. But as the methods for sharing increase, so too must the desire for preventing model-based errors and a dependence on one technology. As is the case in many scenarios, a multi-disciplinary approach is best.
