IEEE Earthzine’s Kelley Christensen and Jenny Woodman are heading to Monterey, California, for the MTS/IEEE Oceans ’16 conference from Sept. 19-23.
Their agenda is packed with panels, town hall meetings, interviews, and plenary sessions where scientists and industry leaders will speak about the challenges facing today’s ocean services communities.
This year, expect to read about National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s efforts to help strengthen global integrated observing systems and xPrize’s work to speed up ocean acidification research. We also plan on taking you on a virtual tour of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary via the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Finally, we’re looking forward to visiting Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), where we will take a look at an Environmental Sample Processor (ESP) that collects samples and processes them in situ for a real-time understanding of ocean conditions.
In addition to our in-depth coverage at Earthzine.org, join us on Facebook and Twitter where we will be posting frequent updates, photos, and links to events happening at IEEE/MTS Oceans ‘16. See you in California!
