There is a strong regional need to improve marine ocean observation and prediction systems to progress management, decision-making, and governance in the Tropical American region. The workshop explored this theme.

Jyotika Virmani from Schmidt Ocean Institute spoke about how technology will be key to powering our exploration of the oceans in the coming years, and how SOI’s philanthropic model has contributed to powering this science in the past by allowing scientists to use facilities on board their ship and ROV.
