The Group on Earth Observations (GEO), has announced that GEO Plenary XIV and the associated GEO Week Conference and exhibition will be held in the United States this year, in Washington, D.C.. The convention will take place from Oct. 23-26, 2017.
The plenary is an opportunity for the 104 member nations and 109 participating organizations to convene and discuss the progress, challenges, and opportunities in collaborating to share Earth observations data, technologies, and techniques.
The associated conference provides time for individuals and organizations to present case studies and specific research results relevant to GEO’s vision and work goals. The conference also provides an opportunity for networking and partnership building among GEO participants.
Topics expected to receive special attention include disaster relief, mitigation of climate change impacts, and best practices for tracking progress on the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
